What next?

I totally singed my skin off the other night. that was dramatic. What I meant was, I dropped a bunch of boiling water and scorched a good six inches of my leg right on the side of my calf. It hurt. A lot. And now I have a massive red burn and this silly bandage that makes me feels heavy and slow. I can't run very well. And it keeps trying to scab so then I move and it cracks and I hobble. It's really annoying. I never realized how much I moved until suddenly I was falling over myself. More than usual, that is.

.

Now at least I know what it's like for my poor book characters.

Speaking of my characters, right now I am reading a book about Gladiators. I am hoping to write my own story in May sometime so I have to read as much as I can before then. I am really excited about my Gladiator book and I'll probably release the plot within a few days, maybe longer if I get super busy. But I'll try hard not to delay too long. I also have this plan. to start writing again and set aside time to read and all that stuff. Why is there no time to do anything anymore?

I should be done with school in two weeks. Two. I am freaking out a little because finishing school means life-ing and I don't know if I am ready to Life. With that being said, I actually do have a plan for after I graduate. I am going to go to school for acting. I am going to try and get myself into one of those Group Theater people and go on Broadway. I just need a job. But I have an opportunity knocking right now, so please pray hard about that.

It's true.

Okay. I have posted.  And it's  probably the most boring post in history.

On the upside I'll be doing my Lord of the Rings post in just a bit! Stay tuned!

"Hear that? That's the Maze Changing."

source

A few weeks I saw The Maze Runner Trailer. And I remember thinking, "Oh yeah. That thing. That's a book." I'd seen it in the library, and I remembered wanting to check it out but never actually getting around to it. Either I didn't have my card or only book two was on the shelf or we were in and out too quickly to get anything. But then my friend checked out the first book and started shouting at me, so I ran to the library to check it out too. Unfortunately it wasn't there. I put in on hold but the hold list was really, really long. So it seemed I was in for a bit of a wait. Which sucks cause this trilogy had friendships and I WANTED it. Then the movie came out in theaters and my brother invited me out to see it with him and some of my sisters. The book still hadn't come in but I really wanted to see the movie so I decided just this once I could cheat and watch the movie before reading the book.

I took the invite.

OH. MY. GOSH. OH. MY. GOSH. IT WAS SO GOOD!

Just in case, this might have some spoilers. So be careful reading okay? Okay. Good.

Thomas wakes up in a large glade filled with dozens of other boys, all sharing one thing in common. They all were sent up to The Glade in the metal box with no memories and no identity, The boys are sent up one after the other once a month, like clockwork. The only thing they are able too keep after waking is their name. Nothing else. Surrounding The Glade is the giant Maze, boxing the children in like a prison. The only way out of the Glade is through the Maze and it is unspeakably dangerous. It's patterns changes every night and it is infested with the creatures called Grievers. No one has ever faced one and lived to tell about it and those who get stung by one lose their mind and slowly die. It's quite awful. No one goes into the Maze except the Runners, two of the best boys who have taken it on themselves to run the maze by day and attempt to memorize its patterns and find a way out. Meanwhile in The Glade the boys have made a type of community. They grown their own food and make their own homes. The box coming up every month provides the supplies they can't grow or build themselves, like clothes and seeds and such like.

That is until Thomas. He is determined to find a way out of the Glade, even if it means becoming a Runner himself and risking the dangers of the Grievers to find his freedom. But the moment Thomas ventures into the Maze is the moment that everything changes. Suddenly the boys start getting attacked by Grievers during the day. The Maze is changing irregularly. Boys start getting hurt. And then a girl is sent up in the box instead of a boy with a note saying "She is the last one ever."

Very quickly after the dangers of the Maze escalate and getting out of The Glade and escaping becomes the top priority.

JUST WOW!!! Okay! Let me just say this. The whole movie can be summed up in four gifs.

The story doesn't take any time getting started. You are thrown into the action almost immediately and from the moment you hear, "Day one Greenie...." you are hooked. At first it is  a little disconcerting because The Glade seems so calm, so peaceful. It's disturbing to have something like organized in a place that is surrounded by something so dangerous. You feel like there HAS to be a catch, some kind of price for this quiet little world. And then the Maze starts changing it's rules and chaos starts bleeding through. And then fear. And suddenly the nice Quiet Glade isn't so Nice anymore. And then of course there is the Maze itself. That thing is freakin' TERRIFYING and Thomas being a Runner does nothing for your nerves. There are small, odd moments of calm in the odd, disconcerting Glade, and then you are running through the Maze, being chased by Greavers. Greavers are so awful! They are like these giant metal spiders/scorpions THINGS and they are just awful!!!! They are as bad as Shelob. And there are way more than one. So you spend three quarters of the movie in a perpetual state of panic. It is so intense you guys! I was shocked at how many times I jumped and flailed in my seat. I kept grabbing at Tiny and she would smack me. Especially if I got too fangirly.

source

Thomas was brilliant. I loved him instantly. And not just because of his looks. (dat face doe....) He was a really good character. You don't know much about him but you can't help but like him right off. He's reserved and keeps to himself but he can open up when he feels strongly about something. He doesn't let people push him around. He's curious and stubborn. He's loyal. He's a good friend. He's very brave (or very stupid) and does ridiculous, heroic things. He's a leader. He's a rebel. He's a fighter. And I loved that about him. I was very attached very quickly. This happens to me a lot.

Thomas

As for the side characters, they were also pretty good. Some of them you didn't get long enough to really have a connection to them, but the main side characters were incredibly likable. There were two in particular that I really liked. One was Chuck who became like a little brother to Thomas, and the other was Newt. I LOVED NEWT. Newt was one of the characters you don't get a lot of but you can't help but see him whenever he is around. He is super cute. He keeps everyone together and always tries to smooth things over and make the best of a bad situation. He thinks the best of people, and he trusts Thomas when no one else will. He is one of the few boys who thinks for himself and seems to have a better mind for what is right and wrong. If anything happens to him I will cry and cry and cry and probably go into mourning for a good number of weeks. And well.... I know the last book is really sad and after the movie I'm very afraid something awful will happen. And I will drown in a pool of feels.

I hate feels.

Newt

DAT FACE DOE

Newt and Thomas are my two favorite characters. I loved them both very much and I can tell that they are going to be something very special in the future. I might have fangirled.  A little bit. a lot. In the theater. And then, afterwards Treskie laughed at me because my little sister Annie didn't see the movie and she wanted to know if it was a brother story and I was like, "Yeeeeees!!!!!!!" and Treskie was like, "OMG Bella! It was barely a friendship!"

She doesn't understand! They share a bond now! THEY SHALL BE BROTHERS!!!!!

She just rolled her eyes at my ejaculation. She thinks I'm ridiculous. I Brotp almost as much as I ship. It's become a thing. The minute I see that two boys are forming a friendship, even if its a small little thing, I'm like.

BROTPING IT!!!

Don't judge. Brotp's are my weakness. I can't help that. I jump on friendship like a rabid rabbit jumps on carrots. (note; I watched pet rabbits once and they never had a carrot. not even one. I fed them salad. lots and lots of salad. I felt like my whole life was a lie.) If they aren't a brotp, (such as Clara and the Doctor or Juliet and Lassadar or Eleven and the Ponds) I am like

BESTFRIENDING IT!!

I have many older sisters who heave long sufferings sighs at my use of the Tumblr words. But they are so fun to use, and they're really catchy. Just try it. Next time you see a friendship story, like... Let's say Clara and Twelve. Wait until they do something adorable and then say

BESTFRIENDING IT!

I swear you'll feel free. Its even better to say BROTPING IT! That is my favorite after Ship. Ship is just so much fun to say. "Oh I ship it." Ship is such a fun word. and when you say it fast enough it almost feels like one sharp word. "IShipit!"

I hope you enjoyed the Review! I should be posting again soon because this is Tolkien Week and I want to do at least ONE Tolkien inspired post and honor him accordingly. PEACE OUT Y'ALL!

I haven't given up and that is all that matters

Update of the day?

I am still writing!

I know right?? Go me!!

source
Well actually that is a pretty big thing. Me writing I mean. I almost gave up last week. Its been hard to write lately because I am trying to finish school so I haven't been doing as much writing as I could be and I depressed myself because I realized I have only written like, 2000 words in the past three days. I'm also coming up on a hard part in my story and I'm afraid because I have to start plotting part two and part two is going to be sad, and overall I'm just not doing so well right now. BUT I'M NOT GIVING UP!!!!! I am a warrior!!!!! I can't give up now! Not when I have a buddy who pokes me to make sure I don't lose steam.

She is a very good buddy.

source
My Motto.

Anyway, as far as my story is going I think I'm doing pretty well. I mean, considering. The plot escalated so quickly I almost couldn't keep up with it and now it is so dark and awful and I realized I needed to do things I didn't want to do. I have to hurt characters and create pain and I just... I just didn't want to write. Because I know the more I wrote the closer I'd be to all that bad stuff and I didn't want to have to write it. Cause I know it will hurt.

Today I worked on the end of my story. I have three other bits I need to write in, all of which I am having trouble with. I need to write an escape, a betrayal and another bit that I can't actually talk about but lets just say it is hard to do. Suffice to say I was too upset to write those and decided to finish up my ending instead. This was a big step because I've been postponing that last scene for a while and I knew it was 'Now or never.'  So I wrote it. I have my last scene done now, and it was really, really hard to write and I was so distraught I had to make something to cheer myself up. Here you are. A snippet, a sneak peak. Something like that. I don't even know what to call it.

you're welcome.

You are free to guess who that is, who that particular quote belongs to.

I want to try and audition for a "My Fair Lady" play but I am very nervous and I'll need to eat lots of ice cream and think it over before deciding. I'm also going to start looking into getting an agent. To help with my acting. Until then I need to see if there is a way I can start making some money. This job thing I have, I dunno if its gonna work out. It doesn't look very good right now.

I am want a new blog look. I've wanted one since, like, January. I feel like my blog is really crowded. And green. And I'm just done with it. Maybe I'll play around with blogger when I have time. See if I can tweak a few things. Make it look nice again. Clean it up a little.

Okay I'm ready for Summer now. I want my sun, I want my seventy-degree weather and I want to sit on the deck and have the wind be chilly and drive me inside cause I don't want to wear a sweater. In JUNE. The magic of living on the mountains guys.

We watched The Winter Soldier again on Sunday. We went down to the at the dollar theatre after Mass and made an event of it, getting coffee and banana bread and preparing for the emotional trauma we were about to suffer. Again. Tell you what, it was worse the second time. I really need a third one. and the next Avenger movie. 2016 is so far away!

God Bless and have a lovely night! Peace out y'all!

I've been bit on my finger! It could've been my leg! It could've been my head, I might've died!

I have a job.

I have a job.

I HAVE A JOB!!

I did a follow-up interview at that sandwich place and SHE HIRED ME!!!! I come in on Tuesday at 11:15. She's going to start training me. Guys this is for real. Like, real. I have a real life, normal job.

I don't know what my emotions are doing. They've been going up and down like crazy ever since I got home. One minute I'm like.....

The next minute I'm like.

source
I was so freaked out you guys!!! I still am, a bit. I mean, that interview... Oh my gosh. I had this sick feeling in my stomach the whole time I was doing it. I mean, don't get me wrong. The lady was very nice and when it was finished she told me I had done well and she'd like to have me. Which was, ya' know, nice. But it still freaked me out. And once I got in the car I noticed my hands were shaking and I couldn't make them stop.

The job is part time and that is good. that leaves time for school and NaNo (Am I crazy? Yes. I am a little crazy.) AND ABOUT NANO!!!!!! The worst thing happened to me last night. I think I am going to have to do something awful in part two. Something really, really awful.  And I am upset cause I love Dimitri. *Hides behind Pillow* Don't throw shoes at me! I am trying to help him! I am! But I don't think I can. That makes me depressed. I sulked and couldn't write. Instead I sat around thinking up more Bucky pain to help cope with the writing hurt.

I THOUGHT UP BUCKY PAIN TO HELP WITH WRITING HURT.

I am so messed up.

Speaking of Bucky pain!!!! I have a started another blog with a good buddy of mine. It was sort of spur-of-the-moment and we are still not sure what it's going to be like, but run over and check it out HERE. It should be pretty fun once we  actually get a feel for it.

That's all I have. Bonus points to anyone who can tell me what my title quote is from!!! Peace out and may the Fourth be with you. *Slides off Car*

Why We Love Food

I'm an Italian. This means that I grew up knowing that the Kitchen is the most important part of the house. Its the room where all the magic happens and without it we'd all be a bunch of sad, starving, worthless humans. For me cooking and baking have always been a big part of my life and the thing to look forward to during any big event. Seriously, if we want to have a nice day it always ends with food, food and more food. That's just always how its been. But I notice that quite a lot of people don't understand my family's obsession with food. I mean, for pity sake, even our songs have food in them!! They don't understand our love of cooking or why we are so scandalized when they say gnocchi and ravioli are basically the same thing. They don't understand that the recipe is more a guideline than an actual rule-of-thumb. My family cooks by taste, quite a lot. We like to experiment, make new foods and desserts and taste luscious sauces while listening to Josh Groban. We throw a little spice here, add a touch of salt there, put a pinch of garlic here, taste, stir..... mmmm maybe some thyme?

And when we serve said meal and a friend asks 'How did you make it?' we're like......

WITH TALENT!!!!

Basically, my family loves food. You give us food and we're happy. If you walk through our door with brownies or scones or breads, we'll accept you instantly. And if you come empty handed, we'll  soon fix it. Company walks in and we're like "TAKE OUR FOOD!!"

People who don't understand this infatuation probably just don't get Italians. Its not so much the food. I mean, we do love food, of course. But its also sort of our heritage. Its our tradition, our life style. Its...... Ugg, what's the word I'm looking for? Help me out guys!! I begins with C, I think.

AHA! Culture!! That's what it is! the food is our culture. Its sort of who we are. like Americans and baseball. Sort of.  And, in my opinion, Italians have got it right. Food makes everything better. As for our music, what's wrong with having a little flavor to our songs? We just love food ok! We love food!!

Cooking and baking has just always been a big thing in my family. I grew up sitting on the counter watching some older sister or work with food and doing my part by dumping in the flour or tossing in the spice. I would watch them imagining what I would bake when I grew up. Maybe that's why it upsets me so much when most of what I make turns out wrong. I figure its because I'm too distracted. My mind is too full of magnificence, I need to clear a little area for the splendor of cooking. I want to be a good cook. I don't even have to be great. Just good! Or even, pretty good! Its rather sad when you pull a treat out of the oven and its become.... not so treaty.

Yeah, that's always a bit depressing. That's when I like to think, 'Oh well, There's always a sin to do penance for.' Or, if I'm in a bad mood and that treat was suppose to cheer me up, 'Fine! I'll just have my peanut butter crackers and tea, watch Doctor Who and be happy! I will rise above this!'

I guess the reason I did this is because so many people I've met in the past months, weather online or off it, don't understand Italians and I felt like stating that we are normal, on the whole, and not crazy chefs who bake all day. That's just my family.

*Grin*

NaNo is going OK, better than I thought it would. It would be easier if I had a COMPUTER. That would be nice. Writing with paper sort of sucks. OKAY I SAID IT! SHOOT ME!! Computers are just easier. Plus most of my story is on my laptop. So.... that's a big thing. I will say NaNo has forced me to do a few things. I've taken a character out of my story and revised the beginning. I feel kind of bad about that, but Peter couldn't stay. He just couldn't. He was getting in the way, and as much as I loved him he needed to go. I'll put him in his own book, I'm sure he'd like that. I'm hoping by  next week I can start sharing snippets and scenes from my book. This is my goal. It will make me want to finish my book, knowing all you know I'm writing again. It gives one kick. And knowing what I'm trying to accomplish, a whole book in thirty days, it causes me to have these bizzare mood swings. First I'm like...
And Then I'm like...

source

And people wonder why writers go crazy.

We live in a world of MAKE BELIEVE guys. We're all mad here. *Chuckles Darkly* Mrhrrrhrrrhrrrhrrrrrrrr!!!!

I guess I'm liking NaNo. At least I get chocolates every week. Every Friday my writing group meets. And we get chocolate.

I LOVE chocolate.

I would go on for longer, but I am still waiting for my lovely laptop to be returned to me and I'm using a borrowed computer to type this post. Also, I'm stuck using Internet Explorer for the time being. Have you ever tried blogging on Internet Explorer? Its a BENCH you guys. A TOOL BENCH! It is so incredibly picky and obnoxious. If it was just the speed, I wouldn't mind, its fairly quick once its loaded. But the pop-ups? The Pop-ups are a freakin pain! You click an image. POPUP! You click a link. POPup! you open a new tab. POPUP! You try to copy something URL. POPUP!!!!! You press play on a youtube video. POPUUUUP!!!!!!  Its so infuriating! By the end of the day you're just like.

I will use Internet Explorer for many things, but when I get my computer back I'm using Chrome for blogging. Just for the blogging. That's safe. *A PROFESSIONAL SAID SO* I. Can. Not. Wait.

Boom
