HELLLLLLLOOO WORLD!!!

Amy Pond

I am finally ready to sneak out of my Sulking Corner and do a blog post. Yes, I said Sulking Corner. I have been sulking and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'm having Post-vacation depression. Serious Post-vacation depression. So its been hard for me to blog about Jack's visit without moping. But now I am ready. *Snaps neck*

Here's the thing. In the weeks before Jack came out my whole family was really, really nervous. As in, "WHAT IF SHE HATES US???" Ridiculously nervous. This was a friend coming to see us. What was there to be nervous about?? Me, I was fine. I was just super excited. I would randomly burst into song, or jump and down and giggle, or rush about crying "TEN DAYS TILL JACK GETS HERE!" and altogether freaking out, but in a good way. We had bunches of stuff planned and, surprisingly, we got 90% of it done. (We never did watch Final Season....)

What is the best way to describe Jack's visit?

Jeremy Renner
It was one of the best two weeks I can remember. There was absolutely NOTHING to be nervous about. Cause, Jack, she fit right in. She was NORMAL!!! We could seriously talk about anything, from our favorite TV shows, to how hard it is riding a bicycle with a skirt (It can be a real pain. Trust me) It was so much fun to talk to someone who was like us! The first day we tried not to be too weird: we wouldn't want to freak anyone out - but by the second or third day we were comfortable enough to be as weird and eccentric as always. and it was awesome. Cause SHE JOINED RIGHT IN!!! It was like finding a long lost sister. I'm not kidding.

There was so much we wanted to get done while Jack was here, watching all of five seasons of Leverage, at the top of the list. That's 72 episodes over .... fifteen days?

We watched lots of Leverage.

We also managed to watch Kate & Leopold, Fourth-Two, Three Amigos, Italian Job and two Tim Hawkins concerts. It was awesome.
meme
We also did a bunch of simple little things, like go out to Coffee or Jamba Juice (LOTS OF THIS!) walk on the pier, going off the hill to look at bookstores and window-shopping at some of the shops around town. There was also a good deal of hiking and walking, and shoving-in-a-playful-way -and-running-off--before-getting-shoved-back.

HIKING!!

MORE HIKING!!!
AND PICNICKING!

Window shopping was loads of fun. There was this really cool shop full of all sorts of .... Everything, from wooden treasure chests to some of the most amazing Kaleidoscope in the world. At first I just thought it was a type of pendant - it looked like a necklace, but it wasn't. It was a teeny-tiny Kaleidoscope!!! These things were smaller on than my pinkie finger. AND THEN I LOOKED THROUGH THEM AND THEY STILL WORKED! My nerd came out. I've always thought of myself as more of a geek, but there is a touch of nerd in there. And kaleidoscopes the size of a baby's pinkie, that you can actually look through and see fireworks - those bring out all the nerd in me. I was squealing and getting all excited, and the lady was so nice, cause she let you touch and hold everything, and it was just so much fun.

THE SHOP!!!

We also spent a good deal of time lounging in the sun with books. And lounging on couches with books. And sitting at the table with books. And curling up in blankets with books. Because nothing says time well spent like reading in company.

AMY!

ME AND JACK!!

ALL OF US!!

One of the days we out to the meadow and spent the day laying the grass, talking and reading and singing and randomly remarking on fandom-related trivia. We discussed our favorite books and our annoyance with popular reading material. We drew and wrote. And we all took turns petting and admiring the famous Jawn. He was so adorable! I love him so much more now. I hope he enjoyed himself while he was here - even though we couldn't have too many cookies.

JAWWWWWWN!
Isn't he the most adorable thing ever??

AMY!

JACK!
I think the day in the meadow was one of my favorites. It was just so fun and relaxing to lay about doing nothing. Well... if nothing is the proper term. We exchanged embarrassing stories about the stupid things we did as kids, the dangerous games we would make up, and how playing Red-Rover was about life and death when we did it. Then I finally worked up the courage to boop Jack's nose. And she booped me back.

And I swear that was the best part of the visit.
In honor of our geekiness we decided to order our Jamba Juice and coffee under a false name. Luckily, wherever we went, different people were serving us, so we could do it more than once. I did it THREE TIMES! I ordered under Gwen for coffee and then the first time we did Jamba Juice I ordered as Amy Pond. The second time I did Jess.
Gwen
Amy Pond

Jessica
Its ridiculous how much fun it is, giving a false name. It made me feel so excited and fangirly beause (In case you didn't notice) we had all agreed to use fandom names. Just to make it more interesting. You could tell my sister and I were on the same wave length, though, because the day I ordered as Jess she ordered as Jo. I was like "Great. We're both dead. Our ghosts are haunting Jamba Juice."  After Jamba Juice we went out to the park and had a semi-picnic and listened to music.

We wanted to make sure Jack got a look at Mahri and Amy's cabin, so the day we had coffee we crashed over at their house and stayed a few hours to munch on muffins and scones.  We even got Sammi to come along that time. That made me very happy.

ME AND JACK!

TINY!

KAT! AND MAHRI! AND AMY!

SAMMI!

COFFEE!
Then we went home, listened to Psych the Musical (And sang along) and talked. And had quote-offs. And obsessed over fandoms. And shared the hate we have for one exceptionally annoying fictional character. Then we started preparing dinner; Now you know how accepted Jack had become. She was helping clean potatoes and chop onions and sprinkle spices. We had a festive dinner with loud conversation and hand waving. We scrubbed dishes and sang.  And we booped  noses. and we punched each others shoulders. And we shouted out movies quotes. And we PARTIED LIKE ITS EIGHTEEEENNN-EIGHTY-EIGHT!!!

SAMMI! And Chloe! And Toink!

THE WEEPING ANGLES!

And We watched more Leverage!!!!

 See a pattern here? *Grin*

All in all it was an AMAZING sixteen days. Jack fit right into the family and having her around was like meeting a sister you never knew you had. Seriously. I mean, in those last few days even little Sammi Toink was calling Jack her big sister. How cute is that?!!

JACK AND SAMMI-TOINK!

"This is Jackie.  My Jackie. She's my big sister."

The last evening Jack was here were getting the End-of-vacation mood swings, and we were all a bit melancholy. We tried to keep the mood light - we went down to the beach with coffees and talked and had tons of fun.... but it was still bitter-sweet. We kept trying to think up ways to keep her. "You don't HAVE to go. We could kidnap you. Or you could sleep in too late on accident." Jack was warming to the ideas, adding a few of her own. "I could pretend to be sick. I could say you wouldn't let me go and I was forced to stay against my will." It was a feeble attempt to soften the oncoming end, but we did our best.

Basically no one wanted Jack to go. We didn't want that last day to end. We stayed up past midnight trying to keep Jack's time from running out on us, savoring our last evening with her and trying not to remember that we'd have to get up before the sun and say goodbye.

But as long as we stayed up the sun wouldn't be held back, and all too soon we'd have drop her off at the airport. and it was super depressing and sad. And I think I might have cried a bit on the way home.

So..... Yeah. Jack's visit was the best thing that's happened since our family reunion. And it was hard when it was over. But all good things come to an end and.... well.... No. No, I'm just very sad.

And I don't know how to end this post.

So I'll end it with a hug. Jack? This one is just for you.

Hugs

A tag to let you all know I'm not dead

Because I am not dead, not at all. I actually have a good excuse for disappearing from the blogging world. My very special friend is up visiting!!! I'm planning on doing a giant post about all the fun we have been having these past few days, but for now I'm just going to do a tag to tide you over.

Rose tagged me with the Liebster Tag! Thank you Rose!!

RULES

Acknowledge the blog that nominated you. (See above)
Answer the 11 questions the nominated blogger created
List 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers who deserve some recognition (Ha. Ha)
Post 11 questions for them to answer
Notify them that they have been nominated.

The Questions

1) An anonymous someone drops a note on your front porch saying that they will fund a trip to either England, an African Safari, Prince Edward Island, or Italy.  Which do you choose?  Why?

I don't tend to trust strangers, BUT if I did choose it would be Prince Edward Island. Or Italy.

2) You're being forced to re-do your room.  What color do you paint it?

Purple. Not dark, dark purple but kind of a soft purple that looks happy and fairy-ish.

3) Do you have a particular song that you listen to often, but it never seems to get old?  If so, what is it?

Hm. It will have to be a toss-up between Demons and Its Time to Begin. I listen to both those songs all together too often. I'm kind of obsessed with Imagine Dragons on the whole. They are very addicting.

THIS IS MY KINGDOM COME!
THIS IS MY KINGDOM COME!!!

4) Would you rather be lounging in the sun on the beach reading a good book or adventuring in the waves?

I've never been sailing and the thought of it freaks me out a little, so I'll go with a good book. About a Thief. Who can steal anything. Even a queen.

You suddenly end up with two twin kittens.  One is a girl; one is a boy.  What do you name them?

Amy and Rory

You're organizing a get together with friends.  Would you choose a picnic or a movie night?

Movie Night! With popcorn, lots of popcorn. And juice!!!!!

What is your pet peeve?

having my bedroom door left open. If I am in a room, the door MUST BE CLOSED. I will wake up 3:00 in the morning, realize the door has been cracked open and get up to close it. There are few things that can make me more frustrated or twitchy then the door being left open. Especially when a certain sister ignores your urgent calls to "Shut the door on your way out!!!" and leaves the room with the door WIDE OPEN. That makes me soooooo angry.

Is there a new hobby you've been wanting to try out?

Not really. I'm not super big on hobbies. I'm trying to write a book and become an actress. That's enough for me right now.

If you could pick one instrument that you would (without any effort on your part) instantly master, which would you choose?

Guitar. I really, really want to learn guitar. If I could play guitar I would lay out on the grass in cowboy boots and a hat and strum away, feeling all western and awesome.

Would you like to be snowed inside for a week?

No, not particularly. I get stir-crazy if I have to stay in for too long. I would like some snow though. We've only had two storms all winter and only one was worth talking about. Its kind of sad.

Pick the closest book to you that you've read.  What is your favorite character in the book?

*Leans over and scans the room* The Hobbit. I see The Hobbit. My favorite character in that book will have to be Bilbo.

I will try to nominate a few people, but I don't know whose already been nominated. So.... I'll just do Five. And if you all have already been tagged, you do NOT have to do this tag, Okay? I know how hard it is to have bunches of tags dumped on you.

My questions.

Would you consider yourself a geek or a nerd?

Do you know when National Pie Day is?

What is the first thing you think when you see salt?

Do you spend most of your time inside or outside?

Range Rover or Land Rover?

Did you know they are making a sequel to The Incredibles?

Do you like Raisin cookies?

Do you own more than ten CD's?

What does it mean to have cat-like tread?

Have you read The Hunger Games?

Do you ever wear a robe?

That's all you nutters. I'm tired and I want to go to bed. I'll be back after my AMAZING visit is over to rave about all the FUN we had without you losers! Mwahahahahaha!

Its the little things

Because it's Lent we try not to watch too many movies and TV shows. In fact we kind of go off them cold turkey. So during this Lent we though that it might be fun to listen to Musicals during the week instead of having our evening movie. It seemed like a grand plan. Now, lately I have had a fierce craving for muffins. Hot, moist Poppy-seed Muffins. They were all I could think about. So I got all 'in the mood' and decided that the night we listened to "Secret Garden" I would make those muffins and we would feast! Of course that would mean skipping Lunch, but it would be worth it. I NEEDED Muffins. I proposed my plan to the family. My sisters (wonderful people that they are) were very good sports and went hungry for the muffins I'd be making that night. They all did it. For me. This meant my muffins had be the stuff of LEGEND!

Now. If you remember I have a past with baking. I don't. Its not that I don't like to - I do! baking, cooking, anything to do with food is good!! but my baking expeditions never work out. Which meant I was super nervous about these muffins. They needed to just right. They couldn't burn. they couldn't fall flat. they couldn't taste like biscuits. They couldn't turn out like those poor abused cookies I had once tried to serve. They needed to be proper muffins that melted in your mouth. Nothing else would satisfy my craving. The whole time I was stirring and sifting I anxiously wondered if skipping lunch would be worth it. I would hate to have given up my lunch for nothing. I stirred. I sifted. I dropped little spoonfuls into the muffin pans. I slipped them into the oven.
They were perfect. I was so, so happy! They were all a muffin should be: Firm but not crumbly, moist but not too doughy or soft. Perfect. It was doubly amazing because I had a very narrow escape with them. I stuck them in for an hour. That is what the recipe said to do. I was feeling all efficient and hopeful when a sister's voice from the kitchen called out, "BELLA!!!! GET OUT HERE AND CHECK YOU'RE MUFFINS!!" Out I rushed, fully expecting to find charcoal in a cup and thinking to myself in a panic, "its only been thirty minutes!!" But see, I had made a recipe for bread. Muffins only need half an hour to cook. I was informed this by a helpful older sister as I slid into the kitchen. Funny how she didn't mention it sooner seeing as she was the one who had given me the recipe!! How was I suppose to know it was bread? I whipped the oven door open and.....
Look at them!!! They look like the type of muffins that you would see displayed in a cook book!! They were amazing!!!
Happiness!!!

Quickly I piled two plates high with golden, poppy-seed goodness and, feeling quite happy with the world, carried my prize into the living room. They were warmly welcomed. We brought out the CD player. We stuck in "Secret Garden." We let the feasting began.
I am pleased to say, the muffins tasted as luscious as they looked. That has never happened for me before! Nothing I make tastes that lovely! I was so happy! They only thing needed to complete the evening was tea. Since I have given up tea I contented myself with boiling water. It wasn't quite fulfilling, but the muffins made up for the lack of British flair in my evening.

Oh hot water, how I love you!

It ended by a really fun night, even though there were a couple moments when conversation interrupted our long-awaited musical. But I suppose that's to be expected when one is having a feast. We did lots of singing, especially when the music crescendo-ed and many characters began singing at once. Don't you love those moments?

There. I just really wanted to share that all with you. It was so much fun and I want to do it again before Lent is over. I know I'm gonna try those muffins again at least. Maybe for breakfast this time. Ooooh! How yummy would that be! I would have to get up pretty early though. Hmmmmm. Is it worth it?

ONE MORE THING!!!
I make freakin' awesome music videos.
Even with crummy video makers. Subscribe to me!!

(many thanks to my sister Tiny who helped make this video the awesomness it is)

My Week

source
And I'm back!!!

Hey guys! I know its been a bit since I've posted and I'm am very sorry. Truth is, I've been on vacation - also known as spending the week at my brothers apartment to help him unpack. It was one of those spur-of-the-moment-no-time-to-think things. Luckily I didn't have to go alone. My older sister came with me and did a lot of the hard stuff - writing menus and such. I don't know what I would have done without her.

The first thing we did, of course, was go shopping. Unfortunately we didn't know a very important detail: My brother had no food in his house. like, none. at all. I think he had thyme and oregano and that was it. I have never seen cupboards so sad and empty. What did he live on, air??? I'm Italian, I couldn't live like this!!! So even with the shopping his cupboards were rather bare. But at least we had Sandwich material. that was good. After the house was stocked up, we started unpacking the kitchen. That's when we realized that in the tape covering almost every box there were horrible, ugly and terrifying, dead cockroaches.

source
You could hear us spontaneously yelp whenever we discovered one where it shouldn't be. (In the bag of silver wear, for instance) That's when you start feeling things on your arm even though there's nothing there. You start smacking away imaginary bugs and shuttering in disgust and horror. Why did it have to be cockroaches?

Aside from that, the rest of our stay was pretty nice. We got to stay up later than usual and we watched a couple Disney movies from the 90's that I'd never seen. Like The Emperor's New Groove and Treasure Planet.

Okay, this was a really, really stupid movie. But it was freakin' hilarious! And its ridiculously quotable. I can't believe I'd never seen it before. I've had such a neglected childhood!

Treasure Planet, on the other hand.....

I know a few people who didn't much care for this movie, but I liked it way more than I thought it would. It even gave me feels, something I totally wasn't expecting. The animation is pretty rubbish, but the story and characters are really great. I love Silver. And Jim. Jim was funny. As a plus it had a sort-of Star Trek reference
I guess it was fun, except for the food poisoning bit, but I'm glad to be home now. One can have too much fun, you know? Plus, I missed my bed. I really missed my  bed.

In case you didn't know,

Today is Fat Tuesday, which for Catholics means, the last day before Lent. I am not ready for Lent. I feel like I've just HAD Lent. Maybe because Last Fat Tuesday I was sick too. Oh yeah, did I mention I was sick?  I think I may have said something about food-poisoning.... well anyway, I'm sick. AGAIN! Like seriously, I've been sick for a WHOLE YEAR RUNNING!! I go through these two-day sprees where I start thinking I am feeling better and then bamb! Sick again before I have a chance to get well. I've either had the cold that hangs on for MONTHS, or the cramping flu, or the cough that wont go away, or the odd, queasy feeling that no one likes. Sick, sick, sick. Twelve months now. The whole freakin' circle. This can't be good for me. Oh, and I still have sniffles. So....

How did I get food-poisoning you ask? I have no idea. I think it was the confectioner sugar I tried to put in my tea, which I then took a teeny-tiny taste of before dumping down the drain. Or maybe something in my meal disagreed with me. I don't even know for certain if it was food poisoning. It might have been one of those three-day bugs. It felt like food poisoning.

Being Fat Tuesday, we're trying to feast and be merry. I don't know how merry I will be but I don't feel horrific anymore, so I'll do my best. I wish I could be healthy for the Holidays. Is that so much to ask for?

Lol. Poor little me. I'm complaining now. That's not a good thing. But being sick is no fun an I've been sick a long time, so I think I have a small right. On the bright side, Treskie has let me use her computer to start making music videos again. She wanted my videos so badly she actually let me near her laptop. I was flattered. I didn't realize my videos were that good. I also didn't realize how much I missed video-making. It help me to relax, and its kind of therapeutic for me. I missed that. Anyway, I made a pretty awesome tribute to Dean Winchester. I'm a little upset about the quality and how it looks a bit blurred, but I really couldn't help that. Windows Movie Maker wouldn't save it in a higher quality without freezing half-way through. So I had to do it in low quality. For some reason this always happens with videos over three minutes. The Monster video I'm planning to do will probably have the same look. Oh well. At least the videos good.

This video has lots of spoilers from every season, so if you are watching the show and don't want to know anything, don't watch. (probably the best if viewed on a larger screen. Enhance the YouTube video to medium size)

That's all for now guys. I'll try to be back soon - with Lent coming I don't know how often I'll be on but I'll try to still post a few times a week.

God Bless!
