Merlin Blog Party Day 7 - Arthur and Merlin

For all you lovelies who did the Merlin Quiz (Jack *grin*) You can see your answers Here.

I'm going to do a post on Merlin and Arthur today. For those of you participating in the blog party, for this day you can basically blog about anything you darn well want as long as its about Merlin. Tomorrow I'll post my pictures from the Challenge. I hope you like them :-)

"You came back to look for me."
"Alright its true. I came back because you're the only friend
I have and I couldn't bear to lose you."
Merlin and Arthur are friends basically from the moment they meet. Okay, maybe not that fast. At first they really hate each other. Merlin thinks he's an arrogant bully and a jerk. Arthur thinks Merlin is an idiot, even if he is a brave one. Neither wishes to be in the others company. But after Merlin is nominated Arthur's manservant that is kind of impossible. For the first couple episodes Merlin and Arthur are both at odds and obviously can't stand each other. But slowly they grow to like each other. Merlin realizes it is his destiny to protect Arthur and becomes staunchly loyal to the king-to-be. Arthur grows fond of Merlin and his odd quirks, though he never really shows it. And so destiny begins to draws together two unlikely friends.

Merlin and Arthur have an odd friendship. Merlin doesn't mind letting Arthur know he cares where as Arthur has trouble letting showing his feelings. There are only a few times when Arthur opens up and says exactly what he feels. I just love their dynamic and chemistry. Merlin is always getting into trouble on Arthur's sake, from being put in the stalks to nearly losing his life on several occasions. Arthur does the same for Merlin, but not as often. To be honest, Arthur thinks of Merlin as a rather naive younger brother who can be a bit of an idiot. There are times however when Arthur praises Merlin for his bravery
I have a servant who is extremely brave. Incredibly loyal,
to be honest and not at all cowardly.

As the seasons go on the friendship between Merlin and Arthur gets stronger and they learn to trust each other wholly and completely. Arthur even gets upset when Merlin isn't there. "Where on earth have you been?" (this is most unfair, seeing as Merlin had been on the brink of death before this scene.)

In Season 5 the bond between Merlin and Arthur was at its height. Arthur understands that something is bothering Merlin and tries to help.
" Its been days since I've seen you smile. What's wrong?"
"I don't have much to smile about."

That just made me remember the last time Merlin ever smiles. :'( SOB!
I think Merlin and Arthur have one of the best friendships EVER! true friendship is when you care enough about each other to sacrifice everything and anything, when you are willing to open yourself up to each other, and when you really can't bear to lose each other. I love that. They are Best Friends and that's how it should be.

SPOILERS FROM FINAL EPISODE!

The Last Merlin episode had me in tears. When Merlin is forced to leave Arthur because Morgana takes his powers from him and Arthur thinks his last friend has deserted him, though he doesn't quite believe that. And then Merlin finds Arthur on the battle field :'(

 "Where have you been?"
When Merlin is so desperate to save Arthur that he just wont give up, even when Arthur tells him, "With all your magic Merlin, you can't save me. Just, hold me. Please."

I want to say something I've never said before.....
You're not saying goodbye -
No. But for all you've done...for me... for Camelot.... I just want to say - Thank You.

That whole ending scene was so very very sad. I kept crying and shouting at the screen. I still blame Moffat. Moffat took the Ponds. Moffat took Sherlock. Moffat took River. Moffat had something to do with Arthur's death. ITS HIS FAULT :'(
And now in tribute to Arthur and Merlin, a video. Please enjoy *Spoilers*

I actually made this video :)

Merlin Blog Party Day 5 ~ Tag

Anna is doing a tag! YAY!!! It looked so fun I couldn't resist.

1) Who is your favorite Character? (can't answer with Merlin, Arthur or Gwen)

I'm going to say...... MORDRED!

2) Who is your favorite Villain/Antagonist?

CENDRED! He was (in my opinion) the best bad guy ever. He was evil but he had a queer moral center - he knew when to back off. He was the kind of man who doesn't kill needlessly. The moment I decided I liked him was when Morgause and Cendred were losing a battle and he says "I'm pulling back."
Morgause; "You disappoint me Cendred."
Cenred "Better to disappoint you then sacrifice hundreds of lives ...." He was totally cool. He had SWORDS buddy! And he was bold too. Spirited! Full of fire! I really adored this guy. But then..... well those of you who have seen "The Coming of Arthur" know what happens to Cenred.

MORGAUSE!!!!

3) What is your favorite Arthurian Creature?

The Griffin. And then the Dragons. They're cool.

Which is your favorite Episode from each Season?

Season 1 - The Poisoned Chalice. Season 2 - The Curse of Cornelius Sigan. Season 3 The Coming of Arthur: Part 1&2. Season 4..... The Darkest Hour: Pt. 1&2 tied with The Sword in the Stone; Pt. 1&2. (A servant of Two masters was really great too, btw) Season 5 - I really loved Arthur's Bane. It was SO COOL!!!! A one-parter? Another Sorrow.

Which is your favorite Season and Why?
I was going to say Season 4, but really it was Season 5
Yes this season was horrific and sad and really really dark and intense and Merlin had become so tired..... BUT IT WAS FREAKIN AWESOME!
"The Prophets Speak of Arthur's Bane. You would do well to fear it. For it stalks him, like a ghost in the night." *eep*
Also, Mordred appears in this Season, grown-up Mordred I mean. I wasn't disappointed in a single episode..... just really sad. One of the best things was that Morgana started acting like a true villain and thought up some half descent plans. She was actually creepy in this season. She is a stronger character if slightly crazy. Okay really crazy.

Did you cheat to watch any of the seasons before they came out on USA? (I'm talkin' about Youtube, not those strange sights I'd be afraid to go to because of Viruses *grin*)

Every season except 1 was watched from Youtube. UNASHAMED!!!!!!

Your thoughts on Uther?
He's an idiot. He was always shouting out "SORCERY" For every little thing and he was a PLAYER!!! The more I found out about him the less I liked him. As Arthur once said, "You are nothing but a HYPOCRITE  and a LIAR!" I hated Uther for the first three season. but then Morgana betrayed him and he lost his mind and seemed so completely broken that I no longer had the heart to feel hatred toward him. SPOILER I even cried when he died...... (though this could have been because Arthur was so distraught) END SPOILER.
In the end, Its nice when he isn't around. Arthur is a much better king.

Your favorite Knight?

Leon or Lancelot :D My boys. My Camelot boys :'-)

Least favorite knight?

*Cringe* Sorry Elyan. Your cool but your not awesome. you have to be cooler than that.

Which Death impacted you the most?\
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arthur's death. I know I know, LEGEND, but really, that was H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E It felt unreal. Faked. Stupid. DANG IT BBC! Just so you all know, I'm blaming Moffat. I don't care who wrote this episode, its Moffat's fault.

END SPOILER!!!!!!!!!

Describe the Diamond of the Day Part 1 and 2 in five words.

NO!!!! Arthur! Merlin! *sob* ..... WHAT?!

When did you first discover Merlin.

My friend was watching it at his house in December of 2011. I thought, "OOooooo. Cool." Then my sister brought it over a couple weeks later and BAM I was a Merlinite. Instantly. Really. I saw Merlin's Figure and fell in love.

If you're a big fan of Merlin what do you call yourself?

I should call myself a Merkin but that's dumb. Its a wig. No. So Merlinite works.

Your thoughts on Mordred?

Mordred is amazing. He never was even evil. At least I don't think of him as 'evil.' For 11 episodes Mordred was awesome, loyal, brave, kind, friendly and the most interesting  character in the whole world. I hated Drawings of the Dark. What was with Kara anyway??! What was her issue? She was dumb. Poor Mordred. I love him anyway. (even though he killed Arthur which made me super mad. HOW COULD HE?)
Do you like the soundtrack? If so, what's your favorite song? (if you have one)
All the music from Merlin is cool. I really like Arthur and Gwen's theme

*grin*

How did you feel when you found out Merlin was ending?
I was NOT Amused. At all. "Merlin, Where are you going? Stay!!!!"

That was sooooooo much fun, thanks for doing the TAG Anna :) Don't forget about the Merlin Bulletin Board! :D

Merlin Blog Party Day 3 ~ the Knights

 The Knights

The Knights of Camelot are one of the many reasons I watch Merlin. They are all so brilliant! Each one has his own special side, each one has his own place.

Leon - The Immortal Knight

Leon started out as a small, one line character with no name or value. But I still remember thinking he was the only knight worth mentioning. He was always there at Arthur's side long before any of the others came to Camelot. When there was a battle he fought until he could no longer lift his sword. He was my knight for a very long time. I wanted more of him. Which is why it was exciting when Leon started getting more lines and, finally, a name. He went from being a nobody to being Sir Leon! The 'Immortal Knight'. Honor itself :) My first knight! Of All the knights I'd want to meet him the most.

Lancelot - The Bravest of all Arthur's knights
We first meet Lancelot in Season 1. He saved Merlin's life and from that point on Sir Lancelot was flawless. at the end of the episode Lancelot discovers that Merlin has magic, becoming the only friend (besides Guais) Who knows Merlin for who he really is. Lancelot always treats Merlin with kindness and respect, even before he knows the truth. He is one of the very few people who is always nice to Merlin. I really liked that about him.
Lancelot does fall in love with Gwen but when he realizes she and Arthur are in love he quietly leaves Camelot. He has no wish to come between them and believes that if they are happy that is all that matters. *tears* Lancelot returns a few more times and is finally knighted by Arthur. When a deadly enemy attacks Camelot Lanelot valiantly sacrifices his life to save the people of Camelot. Whatever happens after that meant nothing. I adore Sir Lancelot.

If BBC had left his story at that, all would have been well. But No, Lancelot had to live up to Legend. So Morgana brings his body back from the dead and pours herself into it, sending the 'clone' Lancelot into Camelot to bring down Arthur and Gwen. Gwen becomes enchanted and well.... lets just say I was not pleased. Legend is stupid. And Lancelot was NOT like that.

Gwaine - The Green Knight

If you've read Legend you may not like Gwaine. I know he was the best knight, at least according to my sisters, but Gwaine wasn't like that in the show. He reminds me shockingly of this guy

Yes, the hair and everything. Gwaine can be very brave but the more I find out about his character in Legend the more upset I am with what they did to him. Especially in the last episode.
SPOILER!!!!
I mean "I failed??? WHAT???!!!
*END SPOILER
He is amazing and I really like him, but he isn't really GWAINE. I think they should have given him some higher standards. That being said, He is good and I would call him a hero.

Percival

This knight is so Dang COOL!!!!!!!!! He is basically everything you need to say "Amazing" He does things like pick up FOUR CHILDREN during a BATTLE and take them to safety. THAT IS SO FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!

How can you Not love this???

He is willing to lay down his life for his friends, he is brave and self-sacrificing, he cares about the values of the kingdom, he knows where his loyalty lies. Also, his friendship with Gwaine is really cool. Its subtle but its there. I like friendship stories :-D And, like all tough guys, Percival has this soft side that is brilliant. I could rave about this amazing man ALL NIGHT, but instead I'll put everything I wish to say about him into one word; EPICNESS!!!!!

"We share a bond. It's greater than friendship....
I can't explain it...." - Arthur
I really love the camaraderie, between these men. They share a bond that is deeper than brotherhood, deeper than just 'friends' they truly do care about each other and love each other as only best friends can. So many people think 'love' means romance. But you can love someone and not be in love. At All. And the bond that the knights have between each other is amazing and certainly very strong. I adore them.

Who are your favorite Knights? Which knight would you like to meet? Put your answers on your blog then link them back to me :-) (Apologies for the late night posts. SCHOOL.)

Merlin Blog Party Day 2~ Never Mentioned Characters

For this day, pick an under-appreciated character(s) from Merlin. Post your answers on your blog and link back to me!

 One Under Appreciated Character
Will

Will is one of those people who is never mentioned as the series goes on. He appears in Season 1 Episode 10, The Moment of Truth. He and Merlin were best friends before Merlin left for Camelot. Will even knows Merlin's greatest secret- that he has magic. In this episode Merlin and Will fight side by side, under the leadership of Arthur, to save their home town from bandits.
Will doesn't like or trust Arthur in the beginning. His father was killed by a noblemen and he's hated them ever since. But in the end Will accepts Arthur and ends up giving his life for the prince. Just as the battle is being won an arrow is aimed at Arthur's heart. Will leaps in its path and takes the shot for Arthur, with a brave "Just saved your life..... what did I do that for?"

This is the first time I ever cried in Merlin. I found it incredibly sad that Merlin had just lost his life-long friend. Also, Will does a very heroic thing there near the end. To win the battle Merlin had to use his magic. Arthur saw magic being used but Will and Merlin were standing side by side when it happened. As Will is dying he tells Arthur "It was me. I used magic, I am a sorcerer. Are you going to kill me?" To which Arthur replies, "No. Of course not." Will is left alone with Merlin, which is when he tells him to stay with Arthur, complete his destiny. "Arthur is a good man. I was wrong." That whole scene was sooooo sad :'( So I believe Will deserves more credit than he gets. He was a very good character and I really like him.

 7 Days of Merlin

My Top Three Merlin characters. (this means main characters. Not side)

I adore Merlin. He is the most heroic, honorable, loyal, true and AMAZING person in the WHOLE WORLD. I mean, he can put up with Arthur. You can't ask for more than that.
Merlin does things just for the good of doing them. He never asks to be thanked, he never asks for credit. Usually he lets Arthur take all the glory. I adore him. He's always standing up for the right thing and tries to fix the world. He's my favorite character. Honestly, I want to meet someone like Merlin. He is so very kind and so very generous. He always thinks of others before himself.

My second best Character is Arthur. he is tied with Merlin for my favorite.... I'd make him first if he wasn't such and idiot at times.
I know a lot of people don't like Arthur because he's arrogant and, to be honest, a bit of a prat. Also because he is mean to Merlin. I'll admit, when I first met him I hated him too. He was a bully and a sot.

"Who do you think you are, the King?"
"No I'm his son. Arthur."
But then this episode came along;
The Poisoned chalice - Season 1 episode 4
ARTHUR WAS SO COOL IN THIS EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At about this part

I decided Arthur was totally awesome. He risked his life to save Merlin and from that point onwards, Arthur was AWESOME! He became this amazing man who strives for Justice and peace. He is a brilliant character
As the season went on he kept getting cooler, and cooler and cooler and cooler. I began to see how who could one day be the Once and Future King who would unite the land of Albion. He had a lot of potential and he was a good man at heart. He just doesn't like to admit that he cares.

Then he meets Guinevere.

Gwen is just a servant but the impact she has on Arthur is truly amazing. She really brings out Arthur's soft side. He is so incredibly sweet when he is around her. He accepts advice from her as well as rebuke. After they get to know each other, both Arthur and Gwen grow as characters. I think their love story really works well.

Which brings me to my next character. Gwen

Gwen was always very kind and humble. She was honest and gentle too. She makes friends with Merlin right off. The thing with Gwen is she often trips over her own words.

Gwen is just sweet. I adore her.

Then I have the Knights of the Round Table.

I LOVE THESE GUYS

I mean, the Knights of Camelot are just too cool. They are more than cool; they are magnificent  In fact, They are so brilliant that they need their own day. So I shall wait till tomorrow to post about the knights.

Okay then, those are my top three favorite Main Characters of Merlin. Who are your favorite Characters?

For the Love of Camelot!
Bella
