*Let Us Be Brave. (Please Read.)

And Jesus saith to them: Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then rising up he commanded the winds, and the sea, and there came a great calm. (Matthew 8:26)

Hey, little friend. I see you over there. I know you're scared. I know you want to give up. But hey. I am here. This isn't how the story ends, okay? There is so much more than just the pain you feel now. The anger. The regret. The bitterness. Stand up. Let me get you a cookie. Have some tea. Take a deep breath. I know things are bad. But listen to me, okay? You can't give up. There is a whole beautiful eternity waiting for you, if you just persevere, one day at a time, one hour at a time. It will be okay. It will never be perfect while you are on this earth, but i t will actually be okay. You will be okay. Take my hand. Hold it tight. And listen.

In our world today there is nothing harder than being brave and doing what is right. This page is dedicated to the simple fact that bravery is beautiful. It is time for all of us to be very, very bravery.  Every act of bravery starts with love. The highest act of bravery is to love.  So that is what we all must start with, theses must be our building blocks for this simple project; Courage and Charity.

Everyone of us has been born into exile. Worse than that, we've been born into a war zone. This is especially true for those of us who are Christian and Catholic, those who believe in God and morality. It's hard to see sometimes. We don't have bombs falling out of the sky, (Thank God.) We don't have physical signs of battles and wounds; but this is because the war we are fighting isn't a physical one. It is a spiritual one, a mental one. Every day, we Christians wake up knowing that today we have to face a world that is turning away from God. Every day we have to stand against the roaring waves of the modern world and say, No, you're wrong. It is easy to feel overwhelmed with the darkness that we see today. It seems that sin and immorality are at their peak.  We, the outcasts, have been thrown into a battlefield where the swords are words and the bombs are politics. It is the most exhausting fight. There is so much depression, and fear, there are so many problems and so many people are suffering for it. Mental illness seems to be growing like a virus, and violence is everywhere. You may ask yourself, Why me? Why would God put me here? Why do I have to be at the center of so much evil?

God has His reasons. I encourage you to think of it this way. The world really needs good people, now more than ever, and God knows that. We are the tiny fireflies in the dark meadow, the spots of light in the darkness. God wants us to be the light of the world, the reflection of Him in a world that has gone blind. This is a hard calling. This is not easy. It will never be easy. It is the fate of all those who follow God to be crucified with Him. It is the fate of every Christian to suffer for their goodness, to be scorned, mocked, hated, imprisoned, thrown aside. For some reason the world hates the pure soul. They hate those who believe in something better, who believe they are a soul created by a Being of infinite power. They hate that there are people who believe we are made of dust and light, blessed with grace and glory, sons and daughters of a God who died to save us. I don't understand why you would hate such an idea; that there is an Infinite King who loves you, that there is a paradise waiting for those who follow Him, that there's something besides this silly little planet that we are all forced to crawl around on for a while. It is a funny thing to hate, especially for a world that is so set on being happy. Christians believe in Happily Ever After. No, Christians are promised Happily Ever After. They only need to cut through the thorny wall and defeat the angry dragon. At the end of the fight there is a castle that lasts forever, with those you love surrounding you and a King who is also your father, your friend, and your God. A King who will give you everything you want, who has prepared a place for you where your peace and happiness will never end.

What is wrong with this understanding, this fine fact? I will never understand the hate people have for it. The only thing I can think of is that humans don't like rules, and since God gives us restrictions the world is rebellious and runs the other way. God is like the mountain guide that says, "No, not that plant! It is bad for you!" and the humans are the followers who say, "No, no, the plant is yummy!" and they eat it anywhere and end up getting sick, or worse, dying. But it tasted good, so they do it over and over, with every plant and fruit. They never learn. They like tasting the sweetness and they ignore the nausea and aches that come after.

It is our mission to be the best of humanity. Those who actually listen, who do what is right, who spend every day not giving up. No denying this is a hard cross. It seems wrong that we are the small chosen few that have to be freaking light of the world. Why couldn't it be anyone else?

"I can put it no plainer than by saying that Bilbo was meant to find the Ring,
and not by the maker. In which case you also were meant to have it.
And that may be an encouraging thought."

It is like what Gandalf says to Frodo when Frodo is upset that he was the one to be burdened with the ring. No one wants to live in troubled times, but that is not for us to decide. It is our job to do the best in the days we have. It is our job to always choose to do the good thing. Trust me, I know how hard this is. I am sure that at this point we all know how hard it is. That is why it's time for us to be so incredibly brave. We need to hold the bravery of heroes, the bravery of soldiers. For we are soldiers, soldiers fighting for Christ our King! We are warriors.

There is a song called "Warriors on Our Knees." Which quickly grew on me the moment I heard it. I really love the idea of the Prayer Soldier, and I thought I would spread the word about it. The Prayer Soldier is someone who is very gentle and very kind. They try to think the best in people at all times, and the main mission, in their homes and on the battle field, is to save as many souls as they can. To be a Prayer Soldier is a high calling. It means spending time on your knees, talking to God, telling God your concerns, laying out everything. Prayer Soldier make little sacrificing during the day in honour of God with the special intention of helping souls all over the world. Every sacrifice and prayer made to God in retribution or homage for the sins and sufferings of others is a little step in saving souls. Catholics hold the belief that our sufferings can help in a VERY REAL WAY to save souls, just as money from friends can help pay off your debt. In the Bible, there is a letter from St. Paul to the Corinthians:

Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for his body, which is the church*. Whereof I am made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given me towards you, that I may fulfill the word of God: St. Paul's Letter to the Corinthians Chapter One.

Since the time of the Apostles, there has been the idea of not only praying for each other, but suffering in a Christ-like manner for each other. Official Church teaching on the matter runs something like this:

As Christians, we are all member of the Mystical Body of Christ. This is not just pretty words. We are literally Christ's Mystical Body, and as the whole human body suffers from a suffering on any one of its members (i.e. if you've cut your had, the pain might be only in the hand, but your whole body suffers something from it.) so does each member of Christ's body suffer when another member is suffering. As a Body, we share the suffering, we share the grace, the merit, the fault, etc.

We are also all called upon to be other Christs - not just to wear the Face of Christ, but to be Christ-like, as far as in us lies. This, of course, involves a striving for personal sanctity first, but has two related results: The first is that each of us must strive to see Christ in each person we see, and we must strive to show Christ in ourselves to everyone else. What does it mean to be another Christ? Well, one of the things is that we voluntarily take on the sufferings of each other - suffering is no longer an evil to be born, it is redemptive. When you are offering something up for another person, what you are really doing is suffering in Christ, and adding to the merits of His sufferings, and then Christ can use these sufferings as He uses His own - for the sanctification of all men. The souls in heaven can also help the souls on earth by praying for us and interceding for us before God.

"Maybe Your Light is a Seed
and the Darkness the Dirt.
Despite of the Uneven Odds,
Beauty lifts from the Earth."- Sleeping at Last.

The days ahead are not easy, and they never will be. In fact, I believe they are going to get much harder. Life is hard. The world is a place of evil. There is not escaping it, only facing it, only fighting it. God has shown us the only way to salvation is through the Cross. The Passion. The death. Take each day as you can. It is alright to cry, in fact I encourage it. It is okay to vent and seek advice. This world is not meant to be faced alone. Have friends to share burdens with. But however hard it is, we, the Prayer Soldiers, are not allowed to give up. We must at all costs, fight, fight, fight. Cry. Scream. Throw shoes. Have a temper tantrum. Stare at the wall for an hour and don't make a sound. Wrap yourself in a burrito of sadness and read for a bit. But once the morning comes... once the sun shines... just get up AND KEEP GOING. Keep going with the knowledge that there are people all over this tiny little earth who are praying for you, there are people helping you, you are not on this miserable walk alone. We have each other. Catholics are raised with the knowledge that there is always another Catholic somewhere in the world, praying and sacrificing for them. I want everyone to have that knowledge. I want everyone to find that comfort with the idea of Prayer Soldiers.

There is no denying the world can be ugly, but there is also a lot of beauty in it. We get a sunrise every morning, and a sunset every night. We get stars, like sparks of magic shining in the darkness to remind us we are supposed to shine. We have birds to sing to us and remind us we're meant to fly one day. There is so much raw beauty in nature. Trees, rivers, wind, earth, rain, stones, waterfalls, mountains, long, wild grass, horses running free, the ocean... the smell and feel and overall art of the whole natural world is so beautiful. There are also still beautiful people, people who care and love and fight with everything they have. I know people like that. I've met them. They are not all gone, like I thought they were. They are very much alive. They are kind and generous. They love. Good people still exist. Brave people still exists. Goodness isn't about being perfect. Goodness is about having flaws. Goodness is struggling with a hot temper and smart attitude. Goodness is recognizing you have issues and fighting to overcome yourself every stupid day. Goodness is being kind to people. Goodness is trying to be the best version of yourself when the rest of the world seems to be at their worst version. The same goes for bravery. Bravery isn't lack of fear. Bravery is about falling and falling and falling, and getting up every dang time because you are too stubborn and brave to give up. Bravery is about helping others even when you are in bad shape yourself. Bravery is about failing and making mistakes, and still having the courage to say, "One more day. One more day...." If you are trying your hardest every day, if you are to stubborn or too ridiculous to give up the fight, you are BRAVE.

THERE IS SOME GOOD IN THIS WORLD. AND IT'S WORTH FIGHTING FOR.

Is it hard to be brave? Yes. Once upon a time a little boy from a strange place called Neverland stated that he wanted always to be a boy and have fun. I encourage you all to take this advice. Our bodies have to grow, there is no changing that. Our minds have to mature and find better understanding. There is no changing that either. But we can control becoming a tired, boring adult. Dance, because you can. Sing, because you've got to. Be goofy. Be funny. Don't let the world get to you. Have fun. Play. Make blanket tents and fairy houses. Look for gnomes in the forest and listen for pixie laughs among the leaves of trees. Play hopscotch. Eat animal crackers. Swing on swings. Have pillow fights. Watch cartoons and read little kid books... proper little kid books, like the ones by Tommy De Pola. Don't ever take anything seriously. Little kids are always very resilient, are they not? So be like them. Sure, there are days where you have to do serious things and face reality, and that is fine. But all the times in between, just let it go. Enjoy yourself. Be you. It's so hard to do that in our time. Even though society paints a nice pictures and asks that everyone be themselves, what they really want is for you to be the person they approve of.

Don't listen to society. Be a dreamer and to heck with what they think of you.

I'm going to quote myself here, and say; I'm learning more and more that living in this world is a struggle. You have to fight for everything. Nothing is easy, and there is a lot standing in your way. What I would like from all of you dreamers out there is to hold onto your dreams WITH BOTH HANDS, and never, never let go. It is easy to give up on dreams in our society. But you can't let it beat you.

Read books that make you feel brave. Listen to songs/music that make you feel better about life in general. (I strongly recommend Il Vollo, The Script, Josh Groban, and Mumford & Sons.) Read books that will inspire you. (Lord of the Rings, Winnie the Pooh, Narnia, Keturah and Lord Death... anything by Diana Wynn Jones....) Watch movies and shows that will encourage you to be the best version of yourself. Make a list of "Things to do," and just go after them. Remember that you don't have to be a huge success. You don't have to be center stage. You don't have to be the next big thing. What you do can be on the side, even a hobby, but at least you are doing it. Just do what makes you happy, and don't care how much money you make or how successful you are. Just be happy. No matter what happens in life, do what makes you happy and let the chips fall where they may. There is so little we have control of in this world. The fact that we can control our outlook, we can control what we do and how we do it, is a very comforting thing. We can help ourselves in little ways, whether with writing, art, music, careers, or new homes.

You have to enjoy yourself. This isn't just friendly advice. Our world is very overwhelming and we need a calming balance to counteract the stress. I've been reading a lot of Pooh lately, and I'm not trying to be cheesy, but Pooh gets to me. In fact, I think the Hundred Acre wood would be a lovely place to settle down in. Everyone is friends, and no one is and outcast because they aren't picture perfect. You can get scared and have anxiety. You can silly. You can be ridiculous. You can be yourself and no one minds, because everyone knows they have their flaws but they all still love each other. I wish I could live in the Hundred Acre Wood. Life would be so much more peaceful there. If we could all make our own " - Under the Name Sander's - " I think life might be a bit easier.

"What I like best in the whole world is me and Piglet going to see you, and you saying, "What about a little something?" and me saying, " 'Well, I shouldn't mind a little something, should you Piglet?'  And it being a hummy sort of day outside,
and birds singing." -Pooh.

"I like that too. But what I like doing best is nothing." - Christopher Robin.

I also encourage everyone to do NOTHING for at least a few minutes every day, preferably an hour or so. Sit outside and listen to the wind, take deep breath and remember that things aren't all bad. Have tea time in the evening. Spend time with friends. Draw. Sing. Do scrap-booking, collect stamps, take up photography... basically do anything that will help you feel calm. And always, always, Love.

HAVE COURAGE AND BE KIND.

The universe was made just to be seen by your eyes.

Don't waste it. Don't waste your life.

That's all.

Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. And be very, very brave.

Goodbye, and God love you!

~ Bella
